Hold On Baby Tour

Boston drag should be proud to be represented by Static (@staticboston) and Throb Zombie (@throb.zombie), who performed an incredible number prior to King Princess’s set. The performance started with Throb Zombie on a motorcycle, prompting Static to join them midway through the song. High energy, accompanied by toy plastic saxophones for the interlude made this an exciting start to the night, and also created a lot of fans of Boston drag, if the majority wasn’t already.

The backdrop changes quickly, revealing two portraits of KP’s face and immediately got the attention of those around the venue. Lights drop, and bright white beams of light push out towards the crowd, as the band walks on and takes their places. King Princess walks out, High Noon in hand, ready to start the night. Starting the night strong, KP asked “Dirty Boston” if they’re ready for a great night - obviously met with a load roar in response, given the new nickname. “Best You Had” was the crowd favorite by far, noting it was the “bottom anthem” - the queer energy was high and strong, a sense of this being a safe space for those of us whom maybe haven’t had the space before. Noticing a familiar face in the crowd, KP dropped off the stage and into the barricaded section, reaching for her fans’ embrace. The entire number was sung in the crowd, and it was easy to feel the togetherness; such a big venue felt so intimate and comfortable, and looking around seeing everyone sing lyrics to their favorite KP songs really made it feel like its own kind of home.
