Nothing More: Spirits 2023 North American Tour

20-something years later and Nothing More is out here kickin’ ass and taking names in each city they enter. On their Spirits 2023 north American tour, they brought along Thousand below and Crown The Empire. On this twenty-nine stop tour, tonight’s show was at the Worcester Palladium. This place is like a home away from home to me, so I was amped to see some of my favorite bands here.

Kicking the night off, Thousand Below took the stage and was greeted by eager fans. I became a fan of these guys when i first saw them back in 2020 at Brighton Music Hall and i am so impressed seeing how much they’ve grown in just a few years. Their set this night was full of great songs off of their albums Hell Finds You Everywhere, Gone In Your Wake, and The Love You Let Too Close. The band had the audience captivated with their intensely raw, emotional lyrics and heavy hitting sound.

Setlist: Hell finds You Everywhere, Chemical, Gone To Me, Venenosa, Silent Season, Sabotage, & Sinking Me.

Next up was Crown The Empire. This band is fronted by Andy Leo (vocalist), Brandon Hoover (lead guitarist), Hayden Tree (bassist), and Jeeves Avalos (drummer). They started out with the banger Dogma. As always, the guys put on a killer show. It truly blows my mind seeing how far they’ve come since I first saw them on this very stage back in 2018. They really bring an intense, electric stage presence that radiates through the crowd. it is clearly seen through the mosh pits and crowd surfers. Singer, Andy Leo, acknowledges said crowd surfers and thanks security for keeping everyone safe, stating they are “the new avengers right here!” He then takes a brief moment to grab a couple of white claws from a fan and he shares them with the rest of the band. As the set goes on, both Hoover and Tree can be seen playing a little game of tag? follow the leader? regardless they were messing around and having a blast! As the band got ready to go into their last song Dancing With The Dead, which is undoubtedly their heaviest song yet, Tree demands the floor turns into one big mosh pit while Leo shouts “You’ve changed! The Whiteclaws have changed you!”

Setlist: Dogma, The Fallout, Black Sheep, Blurry (Out of Place), Zero, What I am, Immortalize, Machines, In Another Life, Dancing With The Dead.

Finally, We have the highly anticipated Nothing More! Seeing these guys live is an experience that is truly difficult to describe... It’s electric. It’s Euphoric. It’s just flat out impressive. The most notable thing has to be Jonny Hawkins ability to effortlessly transition from clean vocals to screaming. His stage presence is unmatched but the rest of the band is right up there with him! Mark Vollelunga on bass, Daniel Oliver on guitar, and Ben Anderson on drums come together and create a sound unlike any other. Not only do they all put on a phenomenal show, they have a hell of a time doing it! As always, they brought out the infamous Scorpion Tail which, if you didn't already know, is a fan favorite. Following that, jonny, Mark, and Daniel all rushed the barricade to perform the last bit of This Is The Time (Ballast) in the crowd! This really adds something special to the experience that is Nothing More. If you haven’t gotten to a show yet, i highly recommend it! They never disappoint.

Setlist: Spirits, Do You Really Want It?, Tired of Winning, Ships In The Night, You Don't Know What Love Means, Best Times, Jenny, Let 'Em Burn, Go To War, Turn It Up Like (Stand In The Fire), Don't Stop, Face It, I'll Be Ok, Fadein/Fadeout, Ocean Floor, This Is The Time (Ballast)
