Welcome To The DCC World Tour
Due in part to the wave of covid tour cancellations, it’s been close to 5 years since Nothing But Thieves made their way to Boston, and their fans were more eager than ever to hear what the group has been cooking up. Since their last visit stateside, NBT have released two studio albums — Moral Panic in late 2020 and their newest, Dead Club City earlier this year. While this tour is in direct support of DCC, Nothing But Thieves’ set proved to be more of a career spanning look at their entire back catalog, with heavy hitters from Broken Machine and Moral Panic prominently featured.
Supporting Nothing But Thieves on this run are East Sussex natives Kid Kapichi. This tour marks the group’s first trip to the US, and they delivered everything fans could have hoped for and more in their Boston debut. With impossibly high energy from the first note to the last kick, Kid Kapichi made an unforgettable impression on the sold out crowd. The group has struck a perfect balance between nostalgia and modernity, unearthing all of the best of early 2000s alternative while still feeling cutting edge through their lyricism and delivery. Their set was just as varied as their sound, hitting on some of their best including “5 Days On (2 Days Off)”, “New England”, and “Sardines”. If you’re a fan of acts like Arctic Monkeys (especially in their earlier years), Yard Act, or Idles, add a few of their tracks to your rotation as soon as possible!
The Thieves had the crowd enraptured from the second they hit the stage, and it’s not hard to see why. Their killer live sound, alongside singer Conor Mason’s unique vocals immediately had the crowd moving as the opening bars of “Welcome to the DCC” began. Their set was a perfect demonstration of their standout talent and longevity within the genre. Hitting on some of their best, including “Amsterdam”, “Do You Love Me Yet?”, and “Is Everyone Going Crazy?”, this tour isn’t one to miss.
